Matthew and Mallory met in the summer of 2011 while serving with Student Life, a Christian youth camp organization. Matt began to develop a crush on Mallory while they worked alongside one another, but he followed staff policy and kept his feelings a secret. They developed a strong friendship based on a shared sense of humor and love for Jesus. But camp ended all too soon, and Matthew returned to his home in North Carolina and Mallory returned to hers in Florida.
Luckily, Matt had one last shot– he and some other friends were going to visit Mallory’s home in Orlando for a fellow staff member’s wedding. During his visit, Matthew invited her on a walk and poured out his heart to her. He told her that he had liked her for a long time and that he would work hard to make their relationship worth the long-distance difficulties. Mallory was shocked and needed time to pray and think about the possibility of a relationship. It wasn’t until two weeks later that Matthew received a phone call from Mallory that would lead to one every day after that until the day they got married on July 26th, 2014. They have just moved to Arkansas and are excited to begin their new life together!
