After a couple years of dating, Frank and Meredith got engaged in Siem Reap, Cambodia in January 2013. Both Frank and Meredith love to travel and had been planning their trip to Thailand and Cambodia for months. Given their busy legal careers, the couple was looking forward to their two week vacation and some warm weather! After an exhausting 24 hours of traveling, Frank and Meredith had finally arrived in Siem Reap. The airport resembled more of a large house than an international airport, and the couple was welcomed by thick, humid, and sweltering air. Waking up at 5am the next morning was a brutal start given the long day of travel, but Frank and Meredith were excited to spend the day touring the ancient temples of Angkor Wat. It was 105 degrees – perfect for hours of climbing and walking… The beauty and awe of the temples left the couple speechless throughout the day as they wandered in and out, and up and down, the ruins. At the end of the day, they waited in a long line at Phnom Bakheng, one of the best places to see a sunset in Siem Reap. Frank was nervous as the sun was setting and the crowd slow moving. Finally at the top of the temple, with hundreds of other people, the couple decided they had enough for the day and it was time to head back to the hotel for dinner. Unbeknownst to Meredith, Frank had another plan. Half way down the temple, Frank found a look-out spot where you could see the sun setting over the majestic temple of Angkor Wat. After a few pictures, Meredith was hot, cranky, and ready to leave. Before she could turn around to go, Frank was down on one knee. At first she had no clue what was going on, but within seconds, she was overcome with tears as Frank proposed and Meredith said yes! Over seven thousand miles away from family and friends, Frank and Meredith enjoyed the rest of their two week vacation in Cambodia and Thailand celebrating their new engagement and the next chapter in their lives. To this day, it was the best surprise Meredith has ever received! They chose Naples, Florida to hold their wedding, because of the beautiful sunsets over the gulf. They can’t wait to celebrate their marriage with their closest family and friends in May.
