Kaytie and Shane officially met on September 17, 2008 at mutual friends (Rob and Michelle)’s party. Kaytie met Michelle in Naples in 2005 and they were both the same age and both grew up in CT. Shane was friends with Rob from both working at a local a/c company and they were fishing buddies. The party was really for Michelle’s friends that night, but Rob invited Shane to come too so he would have someone to hang out with and fish with while the girls were together. Prior to Shane arriving to the party all the girls were joking about who would have dibs on Shane. He was 7 years younger than Kaytie (the same age difference between Rob and Michelle) so Kaytie wasn’t really serious about having “dibs” on him. But, when he arrived to the party, Kaytie came running over to him and said “you look familiar, I know you, do I look familiar, I know I know you from somewhere”! And, all the girls laughed and said “Oh yea, good one” to Kaytie. But, she was serious about Shane looking familiar and was determined to figure out how she knew him. About 20 minutes later, with the help of Suzy, Kaytie figured out that she had met him a couple of times at her boss’s house while he was performing the maintenance on their a/c. That was enough of an ice breaker and the two ended up talking together all night long and went on their first official date together that upcoming Saturday. And, they have been together ever since.
On September 29, 2010, Kaytie and Shane were blessed with the birth of their son, Kane and on 11/11/11 they made it official and became Mr. and Mrs. Shane Brauning. The weather that day at the Naples Beach Hotel was perfect. They were married out on the lawn overlooking the beach and then the reception followed in the Everglades room. Kaytie’s mom, Marcia and her brother, Jonathan escorted her down the aisle in memory of her father, Robert A. Wilson. About 90 friends and family were in attendance.
What a blast everyone had. Guests danced to the DJ/Emcee, listened to the piano player outside the reception room and had so much fun with the props at the photo booth. It was truly a wonderful event.
