Groom Daniel is from Naples, Florida and also a Canadian citizen. Bride Danica is from Avalon, Catalina Island, California. Their friends and family call them “The Dans”.
Daniel and Danica met while working at the Ritz Carlton on the island of Maui, Hawaii in January 2018. They knew very early that their feelings for each other were immense; however, prior to them meeting, Daniel had a one way ticket booked to Asia that coming April. His plan was to embark on a trip of a lifetime with no return ticket!
Daniel followed through with his April departure for Asia while Danica’s Maui journey continued. She met him in Indonesia where they spent 12 amazing days together. Their relationship had grown even stronger, and despite life pulling them in two very different directions at the time, it felt impossible not to come back to one another. Daniel returned to Maui in August when he and Danica planned their next adventure.
In May 2019 the Dans did some traveling, visiting family and friends on their way to moving to Colorado that June. In February 2020 they headed back to Maui for their two year anniversary and to visit their old friends. The second day on island, they went on a hike like they normally would, but this time Daniel was planning on proposing. He confidently hiked, jumped, and swam with the ring in a shell case in his pocket. At the base of the waterfall Daniel finally got down on one knee and proposed; however, he presented Danica an empty shell; the ring had fallen out! Luckily, they looked down, and there was the ring. Daniel was speechless, he couldn’t say one word. He didn’t need to though, it was all so perfectly “them”. They hiked back down and that night Daniel surprised Danica with an engagement party filled with all of their Maui friends. It was the start of a two year happy engagement.
During the next two years The Dans slowly planned their Naples, Florida wedding at Club Pelican Bay for April 30th, 2022. They did a lot of non traditional things for their wedding which was fun and unique. Some things like, Daniel wore a green tux, they requested all their guests/family/bridal party to wear black, their two year old Golden Retriever Kirkland was their ring bearer and they did not have a flower girl, adult only wedding, their bridal party reception entrance was a soul train that included all guests, minimal speeches, no vows/cake cutting/bouquet or garter tosses, just 200 of their closest friends and family from all across the US, Canada, and the the UK dancing the night away to the Robert Williamson Band.
