Tori & Wade grew up in the same town. They attended the same high school and even hung out with the same group of friends. Yet, it was not until 2008 that they met for the first time at a costume party. The two immediately hit it off and spent the entire evening chatting. At the end of the night, Wade asked Tori if he could take her out sometime. Within just a few dates, he had won her heart.
“I knew he was a keeper when I invited him over and he didn’t freak out over the piles of wedding magazines on my coffee table,” says Tori, who is the Wedding and Events Coordinator for the Edison & Ford Winter Estates.
After two and a half years of dating and countless adventures, Wade popped the question. While on vacation in the Southern Caribbean, Wade scouted out his perfect location – St. Nicolas Abbey, a rum distillery and the oldest standing building in Barbados. With the tour of the home behind them, and a few glasses of rum punch in their bellies, Wade took Tori to the top of a hill that overlooked an old mill and sugar cane fields, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. The ring that he presented to her is a family heirloom that consists of his mother’s uniquely designed gold band with his grandmother’s engagement diamond nestled between two peaks. How could she say no?
The community that Tori & Wade live in has a lot of undeveloped land that made great backdrops for their engagement photos. “We love how country it feels out here. The oaks, the pines, the cabbage palms, the tall grasses – this is the Florida we grew up in,” says Tori.
Kehrin Hassan of Jet Set Wed styled the shoot and used her expertise to pick out the wardrobe, the props, and the different locations.
