Although they grew up 1,300 miles apart, Carly (from Connecticut) and Carl (from Minnesota) both left their families and friends to attend Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. Although they had the same circle of friends in college, somehow they didn’t meet until the end of their 3rd year at Eckerd. They began their relationship apart, with Carl moving back to Minnesota for the summer to compete in his first bodybuilding contest, and Carly going to Thailand and Cambodia for a research trip. When they reunited for their senior year of college, they knew that they had developed a very special bond. The next several years took them to Minnesota, then to Des Moines for Carl to attend Medical School, with Carly playing a supporting role. Carl told himself that if he ever got Carly to go to Las Vegas with him, that he was going to propose to her. So while on a trip to Las Vegas for a residency interview, Carl planned a romantic evening on the Las Vegas Strip. After a wonderful night, Carl got down on one knee and asked Carly if she would spend the rest of her life with him. The next 3 years in Las Vegas flew by, and culminated with Carl becoming Chief Resident and being awarded Resident of the Year as voted by his peers. Ultimately, their hearts told them that they wanted to get married and make their lives together on the Gulf Coast of Florida where their love story began. That’s how a city girl from Connecticut met a small town boy from Minnesota, fell in love, and 11 ½ years later walked down the aisle to become husband and wife. Congratulations guys!
