There’s a sliver of truth behind every love philosophy. Whether it’s love at first sight, understanding people are in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing – or even accepting the love people think they deserve. Embedded in every wedding story is some philosophy of love, and Priscilla and Jon’s tale is no different. Jon and Priscilla met more than 10 years ago. She was 15—he was 18—and Priscilla knew instantly. Call it women’s intuition, but every fiber in her body knew that they were meant to be forever. At such a young age, Priscilla didn’t identify it as anything more than a crush. It was a crush that led her to manipulate day-to-day life in order to see, hear or speak to Jon. Whether it was sneaking out late at night to drive by his house with her best friend, or instantly searching every restaurant and bar in hopes of bumping into him—she was drawn to Jon. As family friends, they soon developed a friendship, which eventually grew into a bond. They respected each other but admired one another at the same time. It was the foundation for everything that was to come. Yet, it wasn’t until Priscilla was 24 that Jon’s feelings for her were reciprocated. They always say men take longer to come to their senses. Soon, they learned to laugh at the same jokes, feel pain when the other was hurt and experience an overwhelming sense of content with life. They fell in love. They were officially united on June 11, 2016. Priscilla and Jon said their vows under the sunshine brought to them by Priscilla’s father in heaven. They married next to the waves that splashed delicately upon shore in honor of Jon’s father. And they danced among the love of 80 of my closest family and friends. Their wedding was in Marco Island, Florida—the same escape Jon proposed to Priscilla 2 years before. Like any wedding, the venture, Marco Beach Ocean Resort, was filled with family tales, excellent food and compassionate people. But most of all, the day was filled with promise. Jon and Priscilla now promise to love each other, always and forever. They promise to accept the love they think they deserve, and they now know that they were in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing on June 11, 2016.
