Christy and Luke met in Melbourne, Florida in the fall of 2013.  They both lived not a stone’s throw from each other for over ten years but had never come together despite (unbeknownst to them at the time) even working for the same company.Their paths finally crossed when they met through a local weekly running group.  Luke was immediately charmed by the beautiful redhead with the sweet smile and classy aura. (Oh, and the freckles!) One evening they set off on their weekly run just after sundown on a calm, cool night. They got to talking about where they were from and what they like and soon discovered they had great things in common. In the middle of the run they both caught glimpse of a shooting star streaking across the sky. (No one else saw it.) Luke was intrigued and decided to get the scoop on her eligibility from one of her good friends.
The initial news was bleak… “Forget it man, trust me, you are not her type.”  Christy was into older men with big arms and much less hair so the chase was over before it really began. But destiny would have its way.  A few months later they found themselves on the same Ragnar Florida Keys Relay team. Luke had one of the longest running legs at over twelve miles and fate would have it that he was handing off to Christy. He was babying a knee injury at the time and was looking forward to that night time running leg like Calvin and Hobbs looked forward to taking baths. Long story short, he had an existential experience while on that run. Time slowed down to eternity, gravity increased by an order of magnitude, and nothing kept him going save for the thought of Christy waiting at the end of the run to rescue him from this ordeal.  When he turned the last corner there she was standing under a bright light waving him in with a beautiful smile and a hearty cheer.  He fell in love with her that night as she ran off in the darkness away from him down that old oversea highway and from that moment on knew he that was the woman he was going to marry.
Four months later on a full moon Friday the 13th night, Luke proposed to Christy.
Christy and Luke were married on another lucky Friday the 13th (of March) at the Edison and Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers, Florida.  Their wedding was small and elegant and very intimate. They were blessed with wonderful weather, beautiful blossoming spring colors and a gorgeous sunset. They were married under a pergola of Queen’s Wreath which was at the peak of its bloom. Their wedding day was the perfect beginning of forever for two special people brought together at warp speed to proclaim their love to the cosmos for all time.
